After going into halftime down 2-0, Rayados made a dramatic second half comeback to beat LAFC 3-2 at the Rose Bowl and advance to the Semifinal of the Leagues Cup 2023. 

On the first play of the match, Stefan Medina made a slide tackle inside the box and the referee awarded LAFC a penalty kick.

2' LAFC 1-0 RAYADOS | Denis Bouanga

With a powerful shot from the 11-steps spot, Bouanga gave LAFC the lead.

At minute 22, Jesus Gallardo gave the ball to Sergio Canales, who shot with his right foot, but the ball went over the opponent's goal.

Minutes later, Joao Rojas sent a low cross to Maxi Meza, who turned and tried to control the ball, but it was too long, and he was unable to connect. 

The home side took advantage of Monterrey's attack and scored their second.

42' LAFC 2-0 RAYADOS | Mateusz Bogusz

After an assist from Denis Bouanga, Mateusz Bogusz shot from the edge of the box and scored the second for the home side. 

In the second half, Rayados continued to attack the opponent and scored three goals to advance to the Semifinal.

At minute 58, Stefan Medina took a powerful shot from three-quarters of the field, but the ball went just wide. 

Minutes later, Maxi Meza also tried a mid-range shot, but goalkeeper John McCarthy sent the ball to a corner kick.

After a foul on Ali Avila inside the box, and after a VAR review, the referee awarded Rayados a penalty kick at minute 67.

80' LAFC 2-2 RAYADOS | (Own Goal) Sergit Palencia

Maxi Meza took a corner kick. Jordi Cortizo took the ball and Victor Guzman shot with his right foot and the ball was deflected by Sergit Palencia, LAFC defender, and the match was tied.

80' LAFC 2-3 RAYADOS | Rogelio Funes Mori

Jordi Cortizo made a great play down the left wing, cut back past two defenders and shot from half distance. The goalkeeper kept the ball out and, on the rebound, Rogelio Funes Mori fired a left-footed shot and scored the goal that gave Monterrey the win. 

With this result, Rayados are in the Semifinals of the Leagues Cup 2023 and will face Nashville FC at a date and venue to be determined.
