“TECATITO" RETURNS, RAYADOS WIN AND CELEBRATE AT HOME!

Saturday night was one of comeback, triumph, party and union between Rayados and their fans.

Monterrey defeated Leon 3-1 at the Estadio BBVA in Matchday 8 of the Apertura 2023.

The match began with Monterrey on the attack and this was reflected in the scoreboard.

After going up 2-0, Rayados suffered a sending-off and León scored just before halftime. However, in the second half, Rayados made it 3-1.

Stefan Medina made a great sweep inside the box at minute 3, which prevented Federico Viñas' shot and kept Rayados' goal unbeaten.

Jordi Cortizo almost scored a great goal at minute 30 when, after a cross from Sergio Canales, he volleyed the ball in with a half-volley, but Rodolfo Cota made a great save.

Minutes later, Sergio Canales took a shot from half distance, but the ball went wide of Leon’s goal.

Luis Romo took a great shot from outside the box, after Sergio Canales sent in a cross at minute 32, but Leon’s goalkeeper prevented Rayados from scoring.

After a cross from Luis Romo, Maxi Meza swept in a shot on goal, resulting in an own goal by defender Osvaldo Rodríguez.

After a foul in midfield, the referee reviewed the play in the VAR and Ali Ávila was sent off at minute 44. At the same time, the referee pointed to a handball by Omar Fernández inside the box and awarded Monterrey a penalty kick.

In the second half, Rayados continued to attack and extended the score to keep the three points at home.

At the start of the second half, Jesus "Tecatito" Corona made his long-awaited return to the field for Rayados at the Estadio BBVA. Welcome back!

Esteban Andrada made a great save at minute 53, after a powerful shot by Federico Viñas.

The referee called a penalty for Monterrey at minute 62, however, after reviewing the play on VAR, he corrected the decision, called a foul outside the area and sent off Leon's Hector Uribe.

After a great play and a spectacular cross by Jesús "Tecatito" Corona on the right flank, Jordi Cortizo controlled the ball in a great way and shot at goal to score Monterrey's third goal.

The game ended with the fans cheering on the team and shouting cheers and shouts of joy.

With this victory, Rayados reached 13 points and are now in fourth place in the season standings.

On Saturday, September 23, at 9:05 p.m., Monterrey will visit Tigres at the Estadio Universitario to play the Clásico Regio #133 on matchday 9 of the Apertura 2023
