It was a night of goals, debuts, joy and triumph at the Casa Rayada.

Rayados defeated the Xolos de Tijuana 3-1 in the rescheduled Matchday 4 of the Torneo Apertura 2023, which was played this Wednesday at the Estadio BBVA.

Rayados started the match looking for the opponent's goal, and it was Rogelio Funes Mori and Jesús Gallardo who were in charge of putting Monterrey on top of the scoreboard from the first half. 

Esteban Andrada made a great save at minute 18, after a powerful shot by Lucas Cavallini, Xolos player. 

César Bustos came close to scoring his debut goal when he headed in a corner kick; however, José Rodríguez, Xolos' goalkeeper, deflected the ball at minute 21. 

Minutes later, Luis Romo headed in a cross from Jesús Gallardo, and again the opposing goalkeeper prevented the Rayados goal.

After a pass from Maxi Meza, Rogelio Funes Mori controlled the ball inside the box, shot with his right foot and opened the scoring at the Estadio BBVA.

36' RAYADOS 2-0 XOLOS | Jesús Gallardo

After a great play by Jesús "Tecatito" Corona, Jesús Gallardo drove down the left flank and shot at goal to score Monterrey's second goal.

In the second half, Fernando Ortíz's men looked to add to the lead. Víctor López scored the third goal of the match, the first goal of his First Division career.

60' RAYADOS 3-0 XOLOS | Víctor López

After a cross from Maxi Meza, Víctor López headed in Monterrey's third goal of the match.

90' RAYADOS 3-1 XOLOS | Carlos González

Carlos González, Xolos player, scored the stoppage time goal with a header. 

César Garza came close to scoring the fourth goal of the match at minute 75, however, despite his double shot inside the box, the ball went just wide of the opponent's goal. 

This match had three other important moments, with the debut of César Bustos, Isidro Suárez and Ricardo Rentería, players who came out of Monterrey's youth academy and who have now become First División players.

On Saturday, October 28, at 9:10 p.m., Rayados will host América at the Estadio BBVA, in Matchday 14 of the Apertura 2023.
