Rayados del Monterrey defeated Comunicaciones FC of Guatemala 4-1 in the First Leg of the first round of the CONCACAF Champions Cup 2024.

The match started with two intense teams and Rayados opened the scoring. Although the locals managed to tie, little by little the blue and white team imposed their conditions and took a great result.

Héctor Moreno had the first opportunity when he headed in a cross from Alfonso González at minute 2, but goalkeeper Fredy Perez sent a corner kick.

The Guatemalan team answered three minutes later with a right-footed shot by striker Juan Anangonó, which went over Esteban Andrada's goal.

Brandon Vazquez connected with a cross from Jordi Cortizo at minute 16 and the ball ended up in the back of the net, but the referee disallowed the goal due to the Albiazul striker's offside.

Berterame's goal is the first goal scored in this new CONCACAF tournament format.

Esteban Andrada saved the home side's goal with a great save after a shot from Carlos Mejía at minute 27.

Luis Romo prevented the home side's goal at 70', when he deflected Juan Anangonó's powerful shot off the line with his head. Great play, Romo!

Omar Govea sent a through ball to Jesús Gallardo, who crossed to Rodrigo Aguirre. The Uruguayan scored Monterrey's fourth goal.

With this result, the Rayados achieved their first win and took the lead in the First Round of the CONCACAF Champions Cup.

The second leg will be played on Thursday, February 15, at 9:15 p.m. at Estadio BBVA.

This Saturday, February 10, at 9:00 p.m., Rayados will host Pachuca at the Estadio BBVA for Matchday 6 of the Liga BBVA MX.
