The Playoffs kicks off and Rayados is going for it all!
Monterrey will face Tigres this Thursday, May 9, at 9:10 p.m., in the first leg of the Quarter-Finals of the Clausura 2024 Tournament at the Estadio BBVA.
The Clasico Regio has been played 12 times in the Final Phase, and in seven of these, Rayados have made it to the next round or won the championship, as happened in the 2019 CONCACAF Champions League.
In what is the 136th edition of the Clasico Regio, the team coached by Fernando Ortiz will be looking for a win at the home of the auriazules.
In the last Regio duel, played during Matchday 15 of the Clausura 2024 at Estadio BBVA, Rayados and Tigres drew 3-3 in one of the most emotional and intense Regio derbies in recent years.
Rayados scored the equalizer in the last moments of the match, with the untiring support of the albiazul fans.
Jesus Gallardo, Stefan Medina and Maxi Meza will be looking to eliminate the auriazules for the third time with Monterrey, after doing so in the 2019 CONCACAF Final and in the Round of 16 of the Leagues Cup 2023.
Sergio Canales, Maxi Meza, Alfonso Gonzalez, Luis Romo, Gerardo Arteaga, German Berterame and Jordi Cortizo are the players on the current Monterrey squad who have registered at least one goal and/or one assist against Tigres.
Esteban Andrada has played in 10 Clasicos Regios, and could tie Omar Ortiz (11) and come close to Christian Martinez (12) as one of the goalkeepers with the most matches against the team of the University, only behind Jonatan Orozco, who has 19 appearances.
