Rayados de Monterrey will face Cruz Azul this Sunday, May 19, at 6:00 pm (MT), at the Estadio Ciudad de los Deportes for the second leg of the Semifinal of the Clausura 2024.

The Cementeros won 1-0 at the Estadio BBVA, so the team from Monterrey needs to win by a two-goal difference to win on aggregate and advance to the Liga MX Final.

Monterrey already knows what it's like to beat the Cementeros by more than two goals in a Semifinal in Mexico City.

In 2021, in the second leg of the CONCACAF Champions League Semifinal, the albiazul team defeated Cruz Azul 4-1 at the Azteca Stadium.

After this victory, Rayados advanced to the Final and, in the end, won its fifth CONCACAF championship, defeating America 1-0 at the Estadio BBVA Stadium.

Should Rayados advance to the Final, they will face Club America, as the Azulcremas beat Chivas 1-0 in the other Semifinal match.

Monterrey will seek to advance to a new Final, after doing so in the 2019 Apertura Tournament, when it defeated America in a penalty shootout and won the championship of the competition.

The team coached by Fernando Ortiz will be looking to make the comeback and achieve one of the objectives set prior to the start of the Clausura 2024.

Andrés Jiménez
