To get closer to the Rayados Texanos, Monterrey will play an edition of the Clásico Regio on Saturday, October 12, at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.
Xavier Sanchez, Commercial Director, and Jesus Zavala, former player and ambassador of Club de Futbol Monterrey, made the official announcement on Tuesday at the Alamodome and invited the fans to be part of this soccer party.
"We know that friendly matches between soccer teams are not only sporting encounters, but also opportunities to strengthen cultural and social ties between our cities.
"The friendly matches in Texas allow us to connect with Rayados Texanos, a passionate community of Monterrey fans. Many of these fans reside in this region and consider the team a source of pride and belonging," commented Sanchez.
Jesus Zavala commented on the experience of living a Clásico Regio and the passion that is contagious among the fans at these games.
"These games are very valuable as a player. A Clásico game is always played to win, they are matches in which you give your best on the field for your Club. It is very good to be able to get close to your fans in the United States and it is something that the Club gives a lot of importance," he said.
Ruben Minutti, Consul General of Mexico in San Antonio; Ron Nuremberg, Mayor of San Antonio; Javier Tafich, Tigres' Commercial Director, and former feline player, Damian Álvarez, attended the presentation event.
This will be the second consecutive year in which Rayados will play a friendly derby in Texas, after a match was held at Shell Energy Park in Houston in 2023.
During the presentation event, the representatives of each team received commemorative medals of the Clasico Regio from the Mexican Consul and the Mayor of San Antonio.
After the souvenir photo, a mariachi band set the mood to celebrate Mexican soccer.
See you in October, Rayados Texans! Let's go, Rayados!
